We need certain vitamins and minerals to function at our best. Our nervous, digestive, hormonal and immune systems all bank on a perfect bundle of these essential nutrients to do their work. But we’re simply not getting enough through our diet. Over the past decade, The UK Government’s National Diet and Nutritional survey found that the total amount of vitamins and minerals that we’re ingesting and absorbing is less and less across most age groups and genders.¹ Why? It’s down to our busy, modern lifestyles, poor diet decisions and the industrial food system. Add to that, the ethnicity factor. Research shows that the needs of the BAME community specifically, are unique. Fact: People of colour are most at risk to be deficient in Vitamin D. The recommended quantities of vitamins and minerals we need daily can often look small and insignificant. But the importance of these nutrients for our overall well-being is HUGE. Even a tiny amount can make a major difference to our long-term health.
